
MUSIC: JAZZ & CLASSIC/COMTEMPORARY / COMPOSITION / JAZZ ARRANGING
Students who are pursuing Music diploma/degree will experience many interesting courses within their curriculum, including:
- Major Lessons: Students practice their musical skills with the chosen instrument.
- Major Ensemble: This course practices students in ensemble performance composed of instruments of the same family.
- Ear training: This course will help students in developing their musical hearing abilities, teaching them to identify, solely by hearing, pitches, intervals, melody, chords, rhythms, and other basic elements of music.
- Performance: Studying this course, students will learn various methods and techniques of performing on the stage and interacting with the audience.
- Seminar: Seminar devoted to skill improvement and various musical techniques.
- Required Recital: Students perform their own recital before the audience.
- Piano Pedagogy: This course provides the guidelines for piano teaching, in addition to a systematic research on contemporary piano teaching methods.
- Sight Singing: This course will teach students to sing the notated rhythms and pitches and distinguish them.
- Theory of Music: This course is aimed to form students’ perceptions of music, its practices and possibilities.
- Jazz Harmony: In this course, students will learn about jazz harmony, the theory and practice of how chords are used in jazz music.
- Computer Music Workshop: This course teaches students to use computer programs for musical editing and composing.
- Orchestration: This course teaches writing music for orchestras/ensembles/bands.
- Counterpoint: Students will learn the technique of combining two or more melodic lines in such a way that they establish a harmonic relationship while retaining their linear individuality.
- Score reading/conducting: This course teaches score reading and stage conducting (orchestra and ensemble).
- Major Lesson: Students continue practicing their musical skills with the chosen instrument.
- Performance: This course is aimed to teach students how to present themselves on the stage while playing music.
- Instrument Workshop: Students learn to work with their instruments through learning various techniques from the workshops given by tutors/mature musicians
- Major Lesson: Students continue practicing their musical skills with the chosen instrument.
- Advanced Jazz Workshop: During the jazz workshop, students will present their playing skills before other students and tutors, and receive their feedbacks in order to improve their personal professional style.
- Advanced Jazz Harmony: In this course, students will continue learning about jazz harmony, and will also get known about different techniques that will help them in improving their own style.
- Big Band Arranging: Students will learn about managing/arranging/orchestrating the Big band, its structure and possibilities.
- Advanced Orchestration: This course teaches writing music for orchestras/ensembles/bands.
- Big Band Performance: This course is required to teach ways of performing in a Big Band.
- Advanced Sight Singing: This course is aimed to develop students’ skills in sight singing.
- Public Performance: This course is aimed to teach students how to present themselves on the stage while playing music.
